How to kill time?
04 Nov '06 - 18:23 by KoenSmall mis-calculation; i have a wedding tonight in Cairo (yes, i am writing from Cairo right now at the moment) but i made a calculation on the wrong information: people told me that there would be a bus in the night back to Sharm, but the first one will leave tomorrow morning at 8.30 and that is pretty late since i have no hotel over here...
Astrid is doing better; she arrived this morning in Dusseldorf and there Ties was standing to pick her up so she could surprise my father on his birthday. An iniative of my mother which worked very well!
Astrid is having fun in Helmond with my family and i have a bit of a bummer; i did not realize it was my fathers 60th birthday and, i could not plan that, Gijs is getting married tonight in Cairo. Actually was Astrid's flight to sharm planned for next monday but that is a bit delayed due to her work and we were also talking about her coming over for the wedding but this works out better for her...
For me?
Well, my day started at 7 over here (that is six o'clock for the most of you) to get my ticket on the dive center to go to Cairo. after an 6 hour busride, you know the kind where you may undress to enter the tunnel under the suez canal and one stop for a smoke and a drink in a bus with 52 other egyptians who, for this time, passed the garlic party they went to last time when i went by bus to Cairo from Hurghada (august 2005). Well, i arived in Cairo much to early but to late to make nice pictures, killed some time with visiting the local Mc Donalds and buying a new suit that will be tailormade ready for me, enshalla, in about 15 minutes.
After that?
I will go to the churche where the ceremony will start at 8 and afterwards we go to the Marriot to celebrate the wedding. I hope it will be a very very very long party ;-)
For the rest there is not much news; Astrid is coming the 27th to Sharm, i'm still working in Sharm and have no days off because i will get bored if i do so i am pretty tired. Ohw, one thing that i should mention what is a bit inconvenient: I am insured by DAN Europe for my teachingstatus at PADI. Now is the new dive center a PADI Europe member and not a PADI International member. The diference in the insurance is an extra fee of 30 euro's which i had to pay when i would be a Europe member and, dutch as i am, i didn't do that because i did not needed it... The problem now is to get reach of DAN to upgrade my membership so i will be back in teaching status and we are already two weeks busy with that! I hope that monday will give a positive reply if Astrid is going to call the main office in Italy of DAN...
Until that time i am still working but the certifications are done by the center manager, who is working his ass off, on paper ;-)
So far my story about Egypt this time, till the next one!!!
